One Hundred Days Art Project- Days 46-50

For the #roundrock100 art project, I'm creating fractal art every day for 100 days. The software I'm using is called JWildfire. I've made lots of pictures but I've gotten behind on uploading my journal. Here are days 46-50.

Day 46- July 17th- I'm working on more black and white line drawings. For Apple Plate, I made a black and white line drawing, then filled in the colors using the Paint software that comes with Windows. Then I used that picture as a background for another fractal. For my second series of the day, I experimented with julias combined with polar and unpolar to create Polar Waves.

Day 47- July 18th- My entry for the letter C challenge- Cracklescape. I used 3 layers with crackle, checks, cell, circus, curl3d and more. I like the part that looks like a bubble that's landed, with a reflection.

Day 48- July 19th- Today's project was for the Fractal Fun Challenge group. I followed a tutorial written by Catherine Boyer on how to use phoenix julia with perspective. After I read the tutorial, I was able to make some interesting patterns of my own.

Day 49- July 20th- I continued yesterday's experiments with phoenix julia and perspective to make Phoenix Sunrise and then Split Purple (which doesn't have perspective in it).

Day 50- July 21st- Today I started off with a combination that I had never tried before. I used oscilloscope, log, juliac, and perspective. I liked how it created an asymmetric pattern.

One Hundred Days Art Project- Days 41-45

As part of the #roundrock100 art project, I'm creating fractal art every day for 100 days, using JWildfire software. This is my journal for days 41-45.

Day 41– July 12- The JWF facebook group has another challenge. This time the challenge is to use lots of variations that start with the letter B. "Bubble Sparkle" uses a variation called bubble3D. The second one uses even more B variations. "Brushstrokes" was started from Mash Mash's design called "Tentacles".

Day 42– July 13- More work with letter B variations. First I tried bwrands, which seems to add small random patterns. Then I started over again with blur_circle and added bsplit and bipolar which made a soft folded pattern.

Day 43– July 14- "Flaming Star" is a complex pattern that looks like flames. It has a little bit of everything thrown in, but the color gradient is the star. "Mandelbrot Eggs" started with a random 3D tile ball pattern, and then I wrapped the classic Mandelbrot fractal shape over it.

Day 44– July 15- I tried a blur variation that I've never used before- blur pixelize. It made a nice starter grid of squares, which shows how the later transforms fold everything into different shapes.

Day 45– July 16- "Flying Eagles"- I was inspired by my friend Carmen who creates digital art, based on Native American designs. Many of her pictures have birds in them, especially crows.

One Hundred Days Art Project- Day 36-40

For the #roundrock100 art project, I pledged to create art every day for 100 days. I decided to make fractal art using JWildfire software. This is my journal for days 36-40

Day 36- July 7- My first fractal of the day was Peppermint Flower. It ended up with an interesting textured look, and colors that remind me of a watermelon. For my second fractal of the day, I created a simple shape using lissajous. Then I used that as a subflame to make a sunflower.

Day 37- July 8- Today, I made a very linear black and white design that reminds me of a spirograph. In Double Diamonds, I tried using a variation called scry that I haven't used much before. It reminds me of bats.

 

Day 38- July 9- Today, I made more black and white linear designs. I was inspired by several Facebook posts about coloring books, including one from the Round Rock Arts Council about their contest for creating coloring pages.

Day 39- July 10- Forest Flower started with log to make the fern shapes. I liked the delicate purple and green colors against the white background, so I stuck with it and created a second picture, Grapes. I like the simple lines. It looks almost hand-sketched (if I could draw well).

 

Day 40- July 11- Today I experimented more with rhodonea. The same combination yesterday I used to make Grapes, today ended up as a grid of Pinata Stars. Maybe I will play with some different colors next.

One Hundred Days Art Project- Day 31-35

For the #roundrock100 Art Project, I pledged to create fractal art each day for one hundred days. This is my journal for day 31 through day 40.

Day 31- July 2- Ring Painting uses just the rings and linear variations with random colors. Flame #31 is one frame of a series I made into a movie. The colors move up and down the spiral legs.

Day 32- July 3- Connector started with a subflame using bubble and log. I made it look 3D and added 3-point symmetry. Then I used circlecrop to make the edges look sharper.

Day 33- July 4 Today was a busy day. I took pictures of a nest of baby birds on the porch, finished a paint by number painting for a neighbor, and went to see the city’s fireworks display. I still had time to come up with an entry for the Facebook Group’s Letter A Challenge. I started with asteria and auger, then used bubble to add stripes, and finished with zcone to add a 3D look.

Day 34- July 5

I started with a subflame, then used elliptic and glynnsim3 as final transforms to end up with a square shape to fill the page. 

My second fractal of the day was a tweak of Jane S.'s Letter A Challenge creation. Her original fractal looked like a blue flower with an orange center, and was titled "A is for Awesome". I named my fractal "Dragon Wash" because of the shapes and motion it suggested. I didn't realize until afterwards that Jane really likes dragons!

Day 35- July 6

Today, I must have been in the mood for purple. Fish Feathers started with a subflame that uses fisheye, and ended up reminding me of feathers. The second design with purple hearts was tweaked from parameters shared online by Lilo. Unfortunately, I forgot to save the flame file and have no way to go back and play with it any more. My mom has reminded me to change the settings so that it will save automatically at the same time as the finished picture. I've been reluctant to change it because I am taking up so much hard drive space with pictures already.
